About

Hello, I'm so glad you stopped by!  My name is Sharla and I am the Owner/Founder of Designing For Hope {jewelry for a purpose}.  I started my business in 2010, after my 4th trip to Swaziland (Africa) because I couldn't bear the thought of not being able to go back as often as possible.  I earn money through the sale of my jewelry to travel and serve with Heart For Africa.

If you'd like to read some of my stories about my experiences in Africa, click HERE.

If you look under the tab, Why Swaziland?, I'll tell you more about Swaziland.  But let me tell you about my jewelry...

I LOVE creating the perfect piece of jewelry to complete an outfit.  An outfit without jewelry is like a furnished room without accessories.  It may look nice, but the accessories are what set it apart, making it unique, interesting and an expression of you.

I wear a LOT of neutral colors (aka black & grey) so my jewelry is where I add my color.  It is an expression of my personality and sometimes even an indicator of my mood.  I love the moment when my jeans and black t-shirt go from ordinary to noteworthy with the right necklace, earrings and maybe even a bracelet (or 2) (or 3)!

My desire is to design jewelry that is unique, beautiful and affordable.  A woman is a complex creature (understatement), so she should be able to express her different moods with a variety of jewelry.  And for many, that means it also needs to be affordable.  I design with semi-precious stones, crystals and unique glass beads (never plastic) and I use stainless steel, leather, silk cord and other chains that have been tried and tested for durability.  I create pieces that you'll want to come back to time and time again.

Stop back often as I'm always up to something new!  In addition to beading, I work in polymer clay and I'm adding metal work (including sterling silver) to my line this year.

Thank you for stopping by!

Blessings,
Sharla
